As my first year as a teacher i will make sure to incorporate 6 goals for first year teachers.
My first will be option number one from the posted link above. I will make sure to accomplish this goal by having students partake in activities that gets them involved. I would like to do so by having the game jeopardy on a smart board. If my classroom does not have one at the time then i will have a projector so that i can have it running on a computer.
My next goal i would like to incorporate will be from option 6. I would achieve this by having students go to the computer lab, and have them compose a Power Point assignment about their favorite animal. Will consist of basic information with at least ten slides.
My 3rd goal would be from option 11. I would have students write papers and send them to their peers (only about 3 per student) and i would have them comment on the paper through the use of Microsoft word. They will be asked to use "Comment Bubbles". They will later turn this in with a final draft for credit.
My 4th goal would be chosen from option 3. I hope to have established a class site where students will have the opportunity to log on and do course work. Such as a learning activity or vocabulary crossword that i will be able to see from my own computer.
My 5th goal will come from option number 8. Here i will have students do another research project, it can be either a slide show, a paper, or a poster presentation about an original country. They will be asked to visit their public library and bring me proof.
My 6th goal will be from option 15. I will have both students and parents alikee give me their email information and i will keep in contact with parents and students alike about important dates.

I use social networks a lot, almost everyone does now days.
I use it to talk to communicate with friends, and basically to give my opinion,
its something that is really great in my opinion. Recently I have began using
the internet for educational purposes, although social networking sites are not
some of the most used when it comes to education they can be helpful. I believe
that social networking cites such as Facebook and Twitter will help education
in the future. As for culture, I believe that social media has already made an impression
on our culture. For one it is almost unheard of for a person to say that they
do not have a phone. It is even rarer to hear that a house does not have
internet. Things like this make a big difference in the way people function. A mere
let me get your number has turned in to “I’ll find you on Facebook”. Although I
am not specifying as to weather or not it is negative, it is something that is
changing society as we know it, and is doing so rapidly.

World Is Flat Response
Friedman's global outlook made me feel as if the future for America is bleak. Although i have always heard that America has been run by big corporations i have never really paid much attention to it. I feel like the only way to stop corporations from taking over the U.S. is by having an emphasis on education, i think it is the only way from keeping the U.S. from being over-run by these money hungry corporations. Yes, America is the land of the free, but how much freedom can there really be when there are a few select corporations that run everything. That just means that if one corporation sees things as unnecessary that they can go ahead and stop people from doing what they want, and the person has no ability to go anywhere else because a corporation has too much power!

Shift Happens
The video shift happens really makes the viewer think about what they are watching. In a way it is kind of disturbing to think that most of the web sites that are most frequented today are websites that did not even exist 6 years ago. Another thing that i learned from the video that disturbed me was how much emphasis is put on technology. Do i believe that this is a good thing? yes it is a good thing but only up to a certain point. Technology is great to have but i also believe that it is important for people to know how to do things without technology. For example, i had to teach one of my younger family members how to find subjects out of an encyclopedia the other day because they had become so dependent on the internet to do their research. Therefore i believe that although technology is something that can and has helped people all over the world, there have to be steps taken to teach people how to do things the "old fashion" way. I think its amazing that i have the ability to web surf, but one of the only reasons i feel so strongly about this is because i remember when i had to deal with dial up internet. I feel like knowing the past helps me enjoy the present.
I believe that i am a great fit because i will start my class by having students look for information through books and then slowly move them on to computers.
